For a moment I thought maybe the Sabres traded him already. I should have known better. |

As someone who's made the drive from Connecticut to Buffalo with a young baby a few times, I say it is doable... his family doesn't have to fly there. |

After reading Rolston is benching Zadorov, I wonder how this schmuck still has a job.
Let's bench the one rookie who is living up to the expectations. BRILLIANT MOVE!!!!! |

Probably no need to sell on L.I. I imagine he will sign there in the offseason. |

I've had it with Roloston, he needs to go away.
I don't know what Regier sees in him. |

Bu we have players like Tallinder, McBain, Weber and Sulzer who are vets that are trying very hard. |

If he would qualify it with, "He's been playing fairly well and we just want him to take a look from the press box...we gave him some focus points to watch for that will improve his game even more...blah blah blah..." then fine. But to say he needs to play better is ridiculous based on the play of 85% of his team mates that are still playing tonight. |

Rolston doesn't seem it because he's not pissy about he's actually more of a jerk with the media then tortorella in NYC. he kind of hates talking to the media so he just makes up soundbites to get them to go away. he rarely says anything. i don't think we're used to stuff like that since Lindy was pretty good at explaining what he was up to. |

Yeah, it's Zadorov and Risto that deserve the benching...not Myers. Not Myers at all. Zadorov wasn't stellar against Dallas, but outside of Moulson and Ennis, who was? Stafford doesnt deserve a spot in the press box? Foligno, he's just been a go to guy this year that I've somehow missed? Pretty lame. It's real easy for a coach that's in over his head to blame teenagers. Is Rolston is trying his best? Is that an accurate assessment too? Stafford was able to essentially steal 16 million from Pegula, and no matter what he does, no benching? But, Zadorov, the 18 year old-I-Was-Just-Drafted-And-Play-Better-Quality-Minutes-Than-Stafford-Ever-Did prospect, needs to step it up? |

Mr Pegula should send a vehicle with a driver to Bring his family to Buffalo for a few days when the team is on a home stand . Would be a classy thing to do. |

Benching Myers is that last thing he needs. You bench him and whatever confidnece he has is shot. Tallinder, McBain on the other hand. |

Pretty stupid post. We don't want to turn into Edmonton here. Throwing rookies into the fire like this always isn't good for their development. I hope Zadorov is sent back to junior for at least this year it will be very beneficial for him. - Cheeseballin

I've never believed in the dog-house mentality that pervaded Ruff's locker rooms. Calling players out in the media, by name and whatnot (a la Derek Roy). But, at this point why is it that the teenagers, given their experience level, are being the sacrificial lambs? Grigo, the sniping center has guys like Scott and Porter feeding him the puck in the 7 minutes a game he gets; he has to play better. Ristolainen playing minutes with Myers and Weber and McBain who have proven to be total liabilities this year; needs to be better. Zadorov, the main reason why we have 2 wins and not 1; needs to step it up, because we lost by one goal against Dallas. They, for the roles they theoretically should be playing, have been pretty decent considering how totally putrid the rest of the team is. Rolston is a coach who is afraid to take ownership of his roster and instead of making tough decisions or bold ones, goes the easy route and blames/benches the rookies. Yet Stafford and Foligno, Myers, McBain, Tallinder, Weber, to a certain extent Ennis, have been making boneheaded rookie mistakes all season, and he's absolutely silent on their play. Grigo is the only one I'd say you could legitimately complain about, but he's 19 and hasn't sniffed a single game in the AHL (where we all know he needs to be), and that's a whole other discussion.
I dont want a coach that alienates players by putting them in the press box to prove a point. But, Rolston isnt even faking like he's got a good reason. He is straight up flailing with the changes he makes to this roster. It's like eeny-meen-mynie-mo. Zadorov is benched because... #YOLO. If he is gonna use the press box as a learning tool, he should use it to teach those who clearly are struggling. Zadorov and Ristolainen havent been perfect, but I wouldnt accuse any of them of struggling through this year. Myers on the other hand can't get out of his own way. He could benefit from some time in the press box, and if he's too fragile for that, then I guess that's his problem. He's been given so much leeway, and an upfront payday for the player we all think he can be. He cant ( and shouldn't be allowed to) have unlimited chances because he won a Calder once. He aint the only issue, Im not scapegoating him. It's just another example of why Rolston is very bad at what he's doing right now. |
